Reports
Reports, in the Admin section of the sidebar, is your firm-wide view of throughput, team performance, and client activity, covering every department at once. Only owners and general managers can open it; a manager or a lead sees their own department's numbers on Dashboard instead, not this page.
Choosing a date range
A row of presets sits above the tabs: Last 7 days, Last 30 days, This quarter, This tax season (January 1 to April 15 of the current year), and This year. Click one, or set the From and To fields by hand for a custom range; a line underneath spells out what the active choice actually covers, so a custom range is never left to guess at. The page opens on the current calendar year.
The range only affects the numbers that are described below as scoped to it. Several figures, noted as you go, are always "as of today" regardless of what you pick, because they describe your firm's current state rather than something that happened during a period.
Firm Overview
Five stat tiles lead the tab: Active clients, Open returns, Awaiting client docs, and Overdue returns are all as of today; Completed is the only one of the five scoped to your selected range. Awaiting client docs turns amber once it is above zero, and Overdue returns turns red.
E-file acceptance. Shown only once your firm has at least one e-file acknowledgment on record, so a firm that has not e-filed yet does not see an empty block. It is all-time, across every jurisdiction, not scoped to the date range: acceptance rate, accepted count, transmitted-but-still-pending count, and rejected-and-unresolved count.
Returns by status, a donut chart scoped to your date range, with a legend beside it (not inside the chart, so the slices never collide with their own labels) showing each status's count and share of the total; the total sits in the middle of the ring.
Avg age by stage, a bar chart scoped to your date range. Read this one carefully: it is the total age of returns currently sitting in each stage (created to now, or to when they were resolved), not how long returns spend in that particular stage. Journey does not yet keep a history of time spent per stage, only when a return entered its current one, so this is the honest question the data can actually answer today.
Open returns by age, a bar chart, as of today, bucketing every currently-open return into 0-7, 8-14, 15-30, or 30+ days old.
Stale returns, a table, as of today: open returns that have sat in their current stage for more than 14 days, oldest first, capped at the top 25. Click a row to open that return. A return stuck more than 30 days shows in a red badge rather than the ordinary gray one.
Staff Performance
Workload distribution is a horizontal bar chart of each staff member's current workload, in points rather than a raw count of open items, for the top 20 people by load. A platinum client, an urgent priority, or an overdue date all weigh more than a routine item of the same type, the same weighting auto-assignment itself uses to decide who gets the next piece of work, and you can adjust what each factor is worth in Settings, under Workflow.
The table below it lists every staff member: name, seniority, departments, open assignments, average days a ticket stays open for them, how many they completed in your selected range, their average completion time in range, how many of their open items are overdue, and a Capacity badge. Capacity compares the same load-point score against that person's own limit: Healthy below 80% of it, Stretched from 80% up to their limit, and At capacity at or above it. Click any column header to sort by it, and click a row to open that staff member's page. Export CSV downloads the same rows and figures as the table, minus the Capacity badge, since that badge is derived from the figures rather than a stored one of its own.
Client Activity
A table of clients, filterable by tier and by a "Only clients needing attention" toggle. The rules for "Needs attention" are listed above the table in plain language and are evaluated the same way whether you are reading the screen or exporting the CSV: a client is flagged when their questionnaire has been out more than 7 days without being finished, or they have an open return that has not moved stage in more than 14 days. A flagged client's name carries an "Attention" badge; hover it to see which of the two reasons applied.
Columns: name, tier, service types, last activity date, days since that activity (shown in a red badge past 30 days, a lighter badge past 14, plain text under that), questionnaire status, return status, and preparer. Click a row to open that client. Export CSV downloads the filtered list, including the attention reason text.
Department Health
One card per department: open work, unassigned count (amber once above zero), the oldest open ticket's age in days (amber past 14 days, red past 30), open tasks, average resolution time in days, and staff count. Click a card to open Queue Management already filtered to that department. Export CSV downloads every department's numbers at once.
Time and Billing
A fifth tab appears only when your firm has time tracking turned on, and only for owners and general managers. Its name and exactly what it reports depend on your firm's time tracking mode; see Time tracking for the full difference between the two modes rather than duplicating it here.
